I’ve been wanting to set up a listing of events that are taking place later than the three or four days I usually cover, so people might want to make plans.
Additionally there are quite a few ticketed events that sell out well before I usually get them listed. I’m hoping I can offer some advance warning for the bigger events.
I needed to make a little time to re-learn how I had programmed this app to read data from my Google Calendar about a decade ago. I just wanted to be able to put a marker in the calendar entries, and filter them to show just those.
Once I’ve gotten this figured out, I’ll repurpose it for more future events in my regular calendar listing.
August 22: I finally figured out a programming bug that kept later events from showing up. I am continuing to populate it with more events, while I’m also preparing my next weekday calendar.
Sept. 16: Arrrgh! I’ve just now found a glitch in the code for this page that I wrote with my own two hands! I discovered that any events which were set up as “All Day” in my Google Calendar were not showing. I had it set to parse out the “DateTime” in the Calendar entry, but All Day events use a separate “Date” item. This was not a problem in the original program for the main calendar, so now I need to relearn debugging to find out and fix the problem. In the meantime, I’ve updated any “All Day” event with the time the establishment opens. In case you’ve missed anything.
