Catching up on my video beer reviews. Here’s a non-alcoholic beer that was sent to me by the brewer’s U.S. reps.

My latest drop is Clausthaler ISO 0.0%, from a division of Germany’s Binding-Brauerei/Radeberger Group. They’ve dropped a Christmas “Santa Clausthaler” with a Grapefruit NA beer, which I reviewed on YouTube, and couple their light fruit radlers under the Schöfferhofer label, like a Watermelon Mint, and a fruited hefeweizen variety pack.
Their ISO 0.0% is a pale lager styled beer. Their promotion focuses on how it can “refuel and hydrate your body after exercising and being active.” Sounds like added electrolytes? But no, they’re not mentioned otherwise.
When I pour the beer, it has a nice look to it. A golden beer color with just a little haze, under a big foamy head.
The smell is decently malty, although I still get the slight metallic tang that sticks with me from most low/no alcohol beers.
The taste, though, is decent as NA’s go. There is some malt, and some hop bitterness, which is what one wants in a pale lager-type beer. But again, there’s that slight metallic tang, and then a sweet aftertaste. Well, out of many non-alcoholic beverages that have come my way, this is as close to a “beer” taste as I’ve found.
