Got another chance to pour a beer that’s been sent to me for comment.

Oskar Blues has been mentioned here before. I’ve discussed their American style pale ales last year, and a time or two before that, and their “Can-O-Bliss” mix of flavored beers and seltzers.
So this spring, they have put out a new configuration “Variety Pack,” a 12-pack with a mix of Dale’s Pale Ale (now labeled as American Pale Ale, I guess since they have other Pale Ales now. 6.9% abv), their American Double IPA (9% abv), and an American Easy IPA (4.9% abv).
Well, I’ve already discussed the American and the Double Pale Ale. So I’ll get to the Easy Pale as an addition to this article.
In the meantime, they’ve also sent me a sample of a sour beer, which I have not seen from OB before. So my first interest will be…
Oskar Blues Neon Rodeo
This is a new style from OB, or at least it’s new to me. They describe Neon Rodeo thus:

Enhanced with zesty lime, refreshing raspberry, and a touch of tartness that keeps it crisp and easygoing, Neon Rodeo serves up a bright profile and refreshing finish. Best suited for the barstool, dance floor, or beach — day or night. (limited-release, 4.3% ABV)
I tasted this one for the next of my One Take Beer Reviews below. The summary: Raspberry and citrus right under the tab. It pours a reddish hazy beer under a parfait-type head. The taste remains lightly fruity and citrussy. The sourness shows as just a bit of tartness, suggesting it’s more of a kettle sour than a lactic one.
Neon Rodeo
This is a limited edition sour, a style that OB doesn’t often put on shelves. Their news releases says:
(4.3% ABV): Enhanced with zesty lime, refreshing raspberry, and a touch of tartness that keeps it crisp and easygoing, Neon Rodeo serves up a bright profile and refreshing finish. Best suited for the barstool, dance floor, or beach — day or night.
Tasting:
I picked up Raspberry and citrus right under the tab. Pours a reddish hazy beer under a parfait-type head. Taste remains lightly fruity and citrussy. I kind of thought there was some salt in there, but they’d have mentioned if it did. Sourness is just a bit of tartness. Nice.
I’ve got another one of two beers they’ve sent out that I’ll add to this article later. Meantime, since the Neon Rodeo is a limited release, I’m finally posting it now.
