A big bit of news on the local beer scene this week. Half Acre Beer Co. announced this week that they have purchased a building at 4257 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago, to serve as a second, much larger brewing space. Plans for the new space include a tap room with an opening set for August. You can read Half Acre’s original blob post here, and Josh Noel’s follow-up in today’s Tribune at the link on the title.
Also today, a new block of tickets for Three Floyds‘ Dark Lord Day has gone up at Crowdsurge.com. The site notes that this is not a ticket sale, but a sign-up for a drawing for General Admission tickets. Entrants who are drawn will be able to pay $30 for entrance to the 3 Floyds “festival grounds” on April 26. Winner will not get the chance at an allotment of Dark Lord bottles, but will be able to get the notorious Imperial Stout on tap. You’ll also be able to buy several other drafts from 3 Floyds and several guest brewers. And you’ll be able to bring and share beers with thousands of craft beer fans from around the world.
The deadline for the Dark Lord Day General Admission Ticket drawing is Noon Central time on Wednesday, March 26. Applicants will be notified whether they won the chance to buy tickets via e-mail before the close of the business day.
