Some things going on worth noting:
Going on right now: Illinois Craft Beer Week. Kicking off with last weekend’s Beer Under Glass, the week includes a passport program, and a pint glass promotion. The limited edition ICBW glass is offered with beer specials and pourings, with funds from their sales supporting the Guild and local breweries. The list of participating breweries is above. I don’t see too many special events for the week coming up, but the Guild will be posting them on their Instagram, and I’ll add them as I find them.
The photo above is from Goose Island’s announcement about this year’s Bourbon County Stout release. This year, the BCS Original will be sold only in 4-packs of 10-ounce bottles. A news release says:
While the recipe remains unchanged, the new format reflects a shift in occasion—ideal for side-by-side tastings with the rest of the lineup or simply enjoying on its own. The four-pack gives drinkers more opportunities to experience the beer that started it all.
The variant releases will continue to be offered in the special 16.9 oz. bottles.
I seem to notice that Goose Island sometimes comes out with the first news of the BCS program right about this time of year. Call it a “Halfway to Black Friday.”
I just checked (Saturday evening) and it looks like there are still tickets available for Dark Lord Day, this Saturday at 3 Floyds Brewing in Munster, IN. General admission to the festival is $60, and includes a metal show and access to the festival grounds: no Dark Lord, but an opportunity to share bottles with a few thousand beer fans. Packages that include the Dark Lord Imperial Stout run $200 (4 bottles) and $333 (5 bottles, plus a VIP package. Tickets here.
