Weekend with Beer Around Chicago, January 17-19

Are we up for some pleasant beer news? You betcha.

A collaborative venture has been announced that will see Steep Ravine – the former Ravinia Brewing – join with Moor’s Brewing – one of Chicago’s black-owned brewers.

They will be participating in Diversey House, at 2601 W. Diversey, Chicago. The building had been the site of Ravinia Brewing’s Chicago taproom, but was closed at the same time they rebranded to Steep Ravine. They plan to open February 5, during Black History Month.

According to their new website, Diversey House will be positioned as a brewery and restaurant with an “experiential” (dab that on your Buzzword Bingo card) sports bar, and an upstairs beer garden. Connected to the building is the Inside-Out Brewery, with an indoor beer garden setting and a 4-vessel, 20-barrel brewing system producing Moor’s and Steep Ravine brews. Moor’s beers are currently contract brewed at 18th Street Brewery in Hammond.

The menu is curated by Executive Chef/Partner Marc Anthony Bynum, a three-time Chopped Champion.

We’ll no doubt see many more local brewers and servers putting up fundraisers to help victims of the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Maplewood Brewery & Distillery has announced that “From now until the end of January, a portion of the proceeds of all west coast beer sold at the Lounge will go towards the relief efforts in California.”
