This week brings, not another place closing down, but a new one opening up.
Mundelein resident Ben Fenton opened Fenton Brewing Company last weekend. The brewpub takes over the space at 169 N. Seymour Ave. This had been the home of Tonality Brewing, which was open from Nov. 2023 to January 2025.
According to the Lake County News-Sun, Fenton went to the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, and while there thought it might be cool to brew a beer while in Ireland. He retruned to work a number of restaurant positions, and during COVID he took classes at the Siebel Institute.
They will be specializing, Fenton said, in British- and Irish-style beers. Photos already show eight taps, and four cask pumps.
This is the second new brewer coming in recont months, along with Spent Grain in Arlington Heights.
