After winning the league pennant in 1891 they played an exhibition against the Chicago Orphans (Cubs) and beat them 4 games to 2. Charles Comiskey bought the team in 1895, moving them to St. Paul, Minnesota as the Saints, but actually to pounce when the newly formed American League let them move to Chicago as the White Stockings.
