This Saturday has actually allowed for some outdoor activity. I got to clear out some dead branches, tighten the breaks on the teenager’s bike, and take the daughter to a STEM exhibit. Now I need to throw something on the grill before the frost comes in.
Today’s grill item is some Bool Kogi Korean-style marinated beef ribs from Trader Joe’s. The beer is another Lagunitas brew sent by them for my comment: the Wilco Tango Foxtrot.
This one’s listed as an American Brown Ale, with 7.85% alcohol by volume, and a strongish 64.2 IBU’s of hop bitterness.
The poor is a pretty deep brown with a nice bubbly head on top slightly browni The poor is a pretty deep brown with a nice bubbly, rocky head on top slightly brownish, too. The smell is nice and ball tea with a little bit of peat to it like a a good roasty brown ale. The taste is a pretty multi but not as accented with the British Pete as the smell would indicate it is more of the American side of a brown ale. The finish is pretty clean, and the alcohol has less of a kick then a lot of Lagunitas beers. It’s also not as hoppy as a lot of their beers, either. Some fruity ale notes kick through after a touch of lactic acid.
This is a malty beer with a clean finish, and coincidentally, it constrasts against the mildly spicy Bool Kogi beef.
