Uncommon Ground
The Lakeview organic cafe, Uncommon Ground, home of Greenstar Brewing, is seeking new management. Founding couple Mike and Helen Cameron are hoping to retire after 35 years. They are looking, notto sell, but to bring in new management to keep the concern going. (BlockClubChicago).
Greenstar continues operation as the first certified organic and vegan brewery in Illinois.
Trumer Pils
Firestone Walker Brewing has announced they’ve made an agreement with Trumer Pils to steward the brand at its Berkeley, CA operation. They plan to continue brewing the German style pilsener for the American market. (The Brewer)
Trumer Privat brauerei was founded in Obertrum, Austria, outside of Salzburg, where brewing rights date back to 1601. Then in 2004, under ownership of the Gambrinus Co., Trumer expanded to a second location in Berkeley. Instead of just bringing over their original recipe, and satellite outfit imported the original pilsener’s grain, hops, yeast and brewing methods.
The new deal will continue bringing in the original Trumer ingredients, with production moving to Firestone Walker’s brewery in Paso Robles, CA.
