Here’s a semi-regular rant about how I get events into my schedule:
Because I’m old and crochety, I still try to “discover” beer events through my Facebook feed. It’s the quickest way to copy events into the calendar that feeds these listings. And I just haven’t gotten the hang of combing Instagram for “favorites” or copying event details.
But lately I have seen posts from my regular breweries or bars with all the details of some event EXCEPT how to get tickets, or even what date and time it takes place. These appear to be some cross-posts from an original post in Instagram. Maybe the item will say something like “Link in Bio.”
By why don’t you put the link in the article itself? To get to the “link” from a Facebook post, I have to:
- Click on the name of the account that posted the item, to go to their Facebook page.
- If I don’t get the main information page, click again on “About”.
- Hope that they have a “Links” section. Click on the link next to the
icon. - Maybe this will take me their Linktr.ee page. Or it will take me to their home page or their Instagram, and maybe there’ll be an event section or a Linktr.ee there.
- Hope the Linktr.ee or the home page actually has the event listing.
It’d seem to me that you’d want to have the necessary links in EVERY social site that mentions your event. I seem to recall that Blackberry’s OS was designed so that it took no more than 3 clicks to access any feature. Getting the Facebook post to the actual event should not take you down a rabbit hole. Especially if you want people to attend it.
Just a thought.
