Chicago Area Beer Week, January 26-29

Let’s see if we can get through this week without another brewery closing? That would be nice.

With a bit of a break in news, it time for a regular reminder of where I get my events. For some time, I have been able to pluck events listings by “liking” brewers and good beer bars on Facebook. That used to drop every calendar event and most their posts into my feed. But lately, Facebook’s algorithms have decided to bury my likes and friends beneath AI slop posts and ads, ads, ads (Any methods for better filtering my feed would be appreciated). I’m trying to set up a routine for checking Instagram and other social feeds, but I’ve gotten used the just being able to click on a Facebbok event to drop it into my calendar.

Oh, and the bone-chilling cold from this past weekend has seen a lot of public places closing. There may be other closing as the below-zero wind chill continues into this week. Obviously many places make that decision on the day of. But if I have time, I’ll try to work in that notice. As always, it’s a good idea to call ahead to your planned destinations for confirmation.
