Easter Weekend Beer Events, April 18-20

Due to a centuries-long scheduling tradition, Easter Sunday in 2025 happens to be on April 20. Was anyone expecting a different kind of grass lining their Easter basket? And according to my tradition, I’ve tried to add places that have special note of being open or closed for Easter Sunday. Some of these events are set to repeat every week. So unless you’ve made a reservation, please be sure to check ahead.

Second City Meadery has posted to their socials that their last day in business will be June 28:

We have confirmed with our landlord that we will be done at the end of June. While that is very sad, it does mean we have some time left together! I’ll be bottling like crazy to get everything out over the next couple months so be ready for the menu to change constantly. I look forward to cherishing the final months of this chapter.

They’re encouraging patrons to visit them soon at 4465 N. Elston Ave.

For some good news: Hop District Community Brewing of LaGrange has announced that they have begun work on a new production brewing facility in Brookfield. There are still few details out there, but the Riverside-Brookfield Landmark reported in May of 2023 that Hop District co-manager James Koblish was head of a company that had purchased the former Congress Park Community Hall building at 9509 Ogden Ave. This would put them across the street from Imperial Oak’s Brookfield outlet.
