Flintstone Busch Beer Industrial

Chicago Area’s Week in Beer, August 26-29

Posted on August 24, 2024

This weekend, Garage Band Brewing of Plainfield posted to their socials:

WE ARE TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RESTRUCTURING.
CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES.

What that might mean will need to wait for further developments.

In the meantime, the megabrewers continue to exit from their ventures into the craft market. Tilray Brands has acquired four former small breweries that had been purchased by Molson Coors: Hop Valley, Terrapin, Revolver, and Atwater. This follows less than a year after Tilray purchased many of Anheuser-Busch’s “craft” brands: SweetWater, Montauk, Alpine, Green Flash, Shock Top, Breckenridge, Blue Point, 10 Barrel, Redhook, Widmer, and Square Mile Cider. Tilray is leveraging its brewing acquisitions to move into the hard seltzer and CBD-infused beverage market.

Today’s “hero” image: After “The Flintstones” ended its TV run in 1966, Hanna-Barbera produced a half-hour “industrial” to get bar owners to carry Busch beer. Promotions included a “dinosaur hunt” dartboard.
